Getting here:
Oulu is located in the north of Finland some 500 km from the
capital Helsinki. The city is well connected to
other Finnish cities and to the rest of the world via its
highways, airport and railway systems. Oulu's airport is
the second busiest in Finland and although the business
travelers are a big part of the visitants arriving in Oulu, the
number of tourism travelers is growing every year.

Arriving in Oulu by plane: The airport is 15 km from the
city centre. A regular bus service (number 19) connects the
airport to the city centre and also to the University of Oulu.
Tickets cost around 6 Euros. The bus journey from the airport to
the city centre will take about 25 minutes and to the
University of Oulu (Linnanmaa campus) 40 minutes. Taxi services
from the airport to the city centre will cost between 30 and 35
Euros and to the University of Oulu between 35 and 40 Euros.
For late arrivals (00:00 - 06:00) there is a limited amount of
taxi cars available at the airport. Advanced
booking is recommended.
Arriving
in Oulu by train or by bus:
The train and bus stations are basically situated in Oulu’s city
centre. The train station is 400 m from the main streets and
shopping areas while the bus station is about 300 m. A

Getting around:
The local public transportation in Oulu region is served by a
bus system operated by different private agencies. The system is
reliable and journeys within the city limits cost around 3

Taxi services are very well structured

The University of Oulu is located in the northern part of the
city about 6 km from the city centre. To move from the city
centre to the University of Oulu you can take buses number 4, 5,
6, 7, 19 and 22. The journey will take around 20 minutes and
tickets will cost around 3 Euros. Taxi services from the city centre
to the University will cost between 15 and 20 Euros. A map of
